These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of BookStay (the "Service"), a calm, literary social network for readers operated by BookStay ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
BookStay lets you track books, write reflective reading notes, and connect with other readers. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Some features are offered as part of a paid subscription ("BookStay Quiet").
You agree not to:
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
You retain ownership of the notes, reviews, and other content you create. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display, and share that content within the Service so it works as intended (for example, showing your public notes in the community feed). You are responsible for the content you post.
The Service, including its design, software, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. Book metadata and cover images are provided by third-party catalogues (such as Open Library and Google Books) and remain the property of their respective owners.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that book data is complete or accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or content, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts located there will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply.
